Sai Abhyankkar has been steadily carving a space for himself in the Tamil music industry with his distinctive sound and chart-topping work. The young composer, who has quickly emerged as one of the industry’s promising musical voices, has also been vocal about the artistes and filmmakers he hopes to collaborate with in the future.
For Sai, those ambitions extend beyond the Tamil film industry. Speaking about his aspirations and the possibilities that excite him, the musician revealed that working with acclaimed filmmaker Christopher Nolan remains one of his biggest dreams. He also recalled how fans had created an AI-generated video featuring Nolan speaking about his music.
“I want to work with Christopher Nolan. They (fans) did some AI video of Christopher Nolan talking about my music. I hope one day that happens for real,” he said at the India Today Tamil Nadu Roundtable in Chennai on Monday.
However, one collaboration that Sai knows he will deeply miss is with Vijay. Reflecting on his admiration for the actor and the opportunity he had hoped to get, Sai described working with Vijay as an “absolute dream” and said he would have gone all out musically if the opportunity had come his way.
“Don’t make me emotional. That’s a major chunk I will be missing in my life. It’s not possible anymore, so I don’t know what to do. It was an absolute dream, without any doubt. I would have given a 16-track album,” he said.
Sai also reflected on Vijay’s evolution from being a star primarily associated with cinema audiences to becoming a figure with a much wider public appeal. “He was a hero for cinema fans, but now he is a hero for everyone unanimously. That is an even bigger stage to be in,” he added.
Sai Abhyankkar’s last film release as a composer was Karuppu. He has a slew of projects in the pipeline, including, Dhanush’s Om, Vijay Sethupathi’s Baththa, Raghava Lawrence-Nivin Pauly’s Benz, Karthi’s Marshal, Allu Arjun-Atlee’s Raaka, Suriya 48 and Dhanush-Vetrimaaran’s Thamizh Murugan, among others.
