Akhil Raj Uddemari of Raju Weds Rambai fame is playing one of the lead roles in Fight Maha. Interestingly, the makers of this small film have announced its release date without much hype or any major promotional events. Another notable aspect is that comedian Sunil, who has recently shifted towards character roles, is also playing an important part in the film.
The makers have described Fight Maha as a psychological thriller. The film also stars Dr Srivani Gopichand, Vaishnavi, Siddharth and Srikanth Iyengar in key roles. Anand Chandra is directing the film, which is produced by AVS Raju, R Kumar Raju and Anand Chandra under their New EyeMovies LLP banner. The makers have announced that the film will hit the screens on August 21.
Akhil Raj gained recognition with Raju Weds Rambai, directed by Saailu Kampaati and released on November 21 last year. He has signed a few films since then, but Fight Maha is arriving very quietly without much publicity.
On the other hand, Sunil, who has transitioned into character roles, is busy with projects across Telugu, Tamil and Malayalam. His recent films include Bhartha Mahasayulaku Wignypathi, Nari Nari Naduma Murari and Lenin, in which he appeared in comic and character roles.
The makers have revealed the intriguing tagline, “If dreams come true, whose truth is it?” and said that the film is being presented as a fresh and innovative psychological thriller. The teaser was released last month by renowned filmmaker Ram Gopal Varma.
On Monday, the makers unveiled the theatrical trailer, which has a runtime of two minutes and 20 seconds, further raising curiosity around the film. Fight Maha is scheduled to release worldwide in theatres on August 21.
“When director Anand Chandra narrated the story to us, we liked it very much, and the story itself inspired us to produce this film. We shot the film across Visakhapatnam, Kerala and Hyderabad. Although only Sunil and Akhil Uddemari are seen on the poster, nearly 40 actors have played important roles in the movie,” said producer AVS Raju.
He added that the teaser, which was released last month through Ram Gopal Varma, received an excellent response and crossed more than a million views. “We are now bringing Fight Maha to theatres worldwide on August 21,” said the producer.
“The concept of sleepwalking that we have explored in Fight Maha is very unique. Although films with similar concepts have been made in the past, we believe that the concept presented in this film will be fresh and new for Telugu audiences,” said director Anand.
He added that the film is an innovative psychological thriller revolving around dreams, mental illness, destiny, guilt and hidden truths. “‘Maha’ is the name of the male lead character in our film. He is constantly fighting against the struggles in his life, which is why we titled the film Fight Maha,” said the director.
