Filmmaker Venkat Prabhu shared a note on his social media handle thanking all those who have stood by him in his 20-year journey in films.
He first thanked late singer SP Balasubrahmanyam and his singer-son Charan for trusting his vision for Chennai 600028. He wrote, “These twenty years have been a beautiful ride. Every film has been different, every story has brought its own challenges, and every experience has taught me something new. Some films were celebrated instantly, some found love over time, and a few became lessons that helped me grow. But through it all, my excitement for cinema has only become stronger.”
He remarked that the pat on his back for his new attempts was the reason for his prolonged journey in the film industry. He thanked the fans, saying, “The biggest reason I’ve been able to keep doing what I love is because of all of you. You’ve stood by me through every high and every low, encouraged every new attempt, and welcomed me with the same warmth every single time. That love has always given me the confidence to move forward, and I’m forever grateful for it.”
He also went on to thank every actor, producer, technician, and friend who stood beside him. He extended gratitude to every audience member who “laughed, celebrated, criticised, encouraged, and continued to believe in my films.”
Calling him a fan sitting in the first row, he says his excitement for cinema has not changed. He ended the note saying, “Thank you for making these twenty years so memorable. Your love has been the biggest blessing of this journey. I hope to continue entertaining you, sharing many more stories, and creating many more memories together. Here’s to many more years of cinema.”
Venkat Prabhu, who made his debut with Chennai 600028 (2007), went on to helm films like Saroja (2008), Goa (2010), Mankatha (2011), Chennai 600028 II (2016), Maanaadu (2021), and The Greatest of All Time (2024).
