Prayers and support from all parts of the world have been pouring for the victims of the flash floods that recently hit Nepal. Amidst this, several celebrities including Sonu Sood, Manisha Koirala and fashion designer Prabhal Gurung have expressed their condolences and extended solidarity with the families of the deceased and missing.
At least 165 people have died and thousands, including over 300 Indians, remain missing after the floods and landslides swept communities along Nepal’s Bhote Koshi River near the Tibet border. Rescue teams are currently searching through mud and debris for survivors. Nepal’s disaster agency said that 823 people remained out of contact on Thursday.
Known for his extensive social work, Sonu Sood confirmed on his X handle that he is sending aid for food and shelter. “Nepal, you are not alone. We are coming with food, shelter and the strength to help you rebuild,” he wrote.

Manisha Koirala, who was born in Nepal shared a post urging people to ‘Pray for Nepal’, while posting about the extensive damage caused to several towns. Several roads, bridges, houses and infrastructure were wiped out in the flood. It is being reported that the devastating flash floods may have been triggered when the lower part of a glacier broke off and crashed on to the valley floor hundreds of metres below. Officials in Nepal have also pointed to an earthquake in the region as a reason for the massive scale of the disaster.
Veteran actor Arun Govil also shared his sadness on the catastrophe. “The heartbreaking visuals reflect the immense challenges being faced by countless families. Praying for the safety, strength, and well-being of all those impacted,” he wrote on his X handle.

Another Nepal-born celebrity Prabhal Gurung, an acclaimed fashion designer wrote about the tragedy.
Nepal’s disaster agency said that 823 people remained out of contact on Thursday.
India has sent 10 tonnes of humanitarian aid and essential medicines with External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar confirming that 37.5 tonnes of HADR material, medicines & food packets for Nepal have been sent. The US has also announced $500,000 in emergency assistance.
