Director Geetu Mohandas delivered an emotional speech at the Toxic trailer launch event held on Saturday. At the trailer launch, Geetu expressed her gratitude to her mother for her love and support over the years. “I think I have never thanked my mother enough, and I just wanted to start by saying this,” the filmmaker shared at the beginning of her speech.
After the Toxic trailer’s unveiling, Geetu said that she struggles to express what it is like to collaborate with Yash. “I am never ready to say anything about Yash. But everyone I meet asks me what it is like working with Yash, and I find myself falling short of words because you have just witnessed what he is to everyone,” Geetu said.
The filmmaker, who has directed Toxic from a screenplay she has written with Yash, also said that she has developed a deeply emotional connection with the KGF star after working on the film.
“He is not just a brilliant actor and an amazing co-writer. Yash to me is an emotion,” she said before adding that a part of her lead actor will stay with her. “Whatever I create in my life, you are going to be there in my spirit Yash,” she elucidated.
Toxic: A Fairy Tale for Grown-Ups marks Geetu Mohandas’ first film in the Kannada industry. It is her third film as a director, the first two being the critically appreciated Liar’s Dice and Moothon.
Shot in Kannada and English, the upcoming film also stars Nayanthara, Kiara Advani, Huma Qureshi, Rukmini Vasanth, Tara Sutaria, Akshay Oberoi, Sudev Nair, and Balaji Manohar, among others. Backed by Venkat K Narayana of KVN Productions and Yash’s own Monster Mind Creations banner, the film is slated for an August 26 release in theatres worldwide. It is also expected to have dubbed versions in Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, and Malayalam.
