A new development has come up in the Nancy Guthrie investigation as authorities released an early ransom note in the investigation, hoping to find a new clue to solve the mysterious disappearance of Savannah’s mother.
The first ransom note was sent on February 2 in which the alleged kidnapper demanded $4 million in cryptocurrency, claiming Nancy was safe but scared and threatened to kill her if the ransom was not paid within 12 hours.
The second sent on February 6 alleged that Nancy died shortly after being taken, stating she is buried in nature now and ending with an apology.
The decision to release the ransom notes is based on Pima County authorities’ investigative strategy. The sheriff Department believes the syntax and phrasing of the notes can help single out the author, the tactic to how Theodore Kaczynski (the Unabomber) was caught after his manifesto was published.
Investigators have recovered doorbell camera videos suggesting an unidentified male prepared ahead of time for the kidnapping.
Sheriff Chris Nanos also issued a statement on Friday and urged the people to come forward if they have any information regarding Nancy’s abduction.
“We recognize relationships and loyalties change over time as do people and their perspectives,” the sheriff’s department wrote. “It is not too late to come forward.”
The sheriff’s office said, “Investigators continue to pursue every available technological and investigative lead. However, community members remain a vital resource as we seek to provide answers for Nancy’s family.”
Since February, Nancy’s family has been seeking answers by issuing various pleas but it remained futile. The family also begged for their mother to be returned to them. “We will pay,” Savannah said.
