Ravi Teja and director Shiva Nirvana teamed up for the first time for Irumudi, which was released on Friday. Ravi Teja, who has been looking for a break after a string of flops, finally seems to have found the right film with Irumudi. With an interesting trailer and songs trending, the film generated good curiosity among the audience, and the Day 1 openings have been huge, surprising everyone.
On the first day, the film collected a worldwide gross of ₹24.20 crore. This is the best opening in Ravi Teja’s career, as none of his earlier films had recorded such huge first-day collections. In India, the film collected a gross of ₹17.20 crore, while the net stands at ₹14.80 crore from 2,673 shows. In the overseas market, the film also recorded good numbers, collecting ₹7 crore gross. With this, the worldwide gross stands at ₹24.20 crore.
The film is very important for both Ravi Teja and Shiva Nirvana, and with positive word of mouth, Irumudi is expected to become a major success for both of them. Mythri Movie Makers has produced the film, with Priya Bhavani Shankar playing the female lead.
Baby Nakshatra plays Ravi Teja’s daughter in this gripping family drama, with the father-daughter bond emerging as one of the major highlights. Shiva Nirvana has come up with a story that deals with a socially relevant subject, using Ayyappa Deeksha as the backdrop.
Most of the film was shot in Sileru, on the Odisha-Andhra Pradesh border. Shooting in real locations has worked extremely well for the film, with Vishnu Sharma’s cinematography adding to the authentic feel and complementing the narration. GV Prakash Kumar is the music composer, and the songs, especially those associated with Lord Ayyappa, have made a strong impact. The background score is another highlight, elevating several key scenes. The emotional thread in the film has also worked well.
The story revolves around a father, Trinadh (Ravi Teja), and his daughter, Manemma (Baby Nakshatra). Manemma tells her father everything that happens in her daily life without hiding anything. Trinadh also treats all the girls in the village like his own daughters and is always ready to support them whenever they need help. When the girls in the village begin facing serious problems, how Trinadh responds, what happens eventually and who is actually behind the trouble forms the crux of the story, which Shiva Nirvana narrates in an intense and gripping manner.
Ravi Teja delivers one of his best performances to date as Trinadh and completely gets into the character. There are no forced songs, comic scenes or unnecessary action episodes in the film, as Shiva Nirvana relies entirely on the story, emotions and characters.
With strong Day 1 numbers and positive word of mouth, Irumudi is off to a promising start at the box office.
